Styling + Decorating Ideas for a Church Wedding

Church weddings are still super popular in Australia, despite the rise in garden and outdoor civil ceremonies taking place.

So today, we thought we’d put together some decorating and styling ideas and tips to create a dreamy and romantic church wedding ceremony.

Floral Archway Entry

If your church has an arched entryway, why not make use of this architectural feature, by adding floral and foliage to enhance the shape.  This creates a beautiful welcome for guests and makes for some special bride + groom photos when leaving the church!  If the church is more modern or not build with arched doorways, then you can always ask your florist or stylist to bring or hire a freestanding arch in to re-create this look.

Welcome Sign

A welcome sign adds a personalised element to your special day.  It’s the perfect ‘welcome’ to your guests at the start of your special day (and to let them know they’re in the right spot!).  Pop a welcome sign on an easel at the entry to the church and add florals or candles as an added feature.

We specialise in creating welcome signs, so we see how popular they are, especially when they are custom made to tie in with your wedding theme in terms of colour, style, materials + font.

These ones are all from our collection  of bespoke signs.

Candles

Create a romantic vibe with the flicker of candlelight, with ivory or white thick pillar candles in vases.  These can be clustered together to decorate a stairwell, window ledge or end of pews with roses petals and foliage.

Floral Arrangements

Super huge floral arrangements are perfect for a church wedding, as they can easily be added on plinths or pedestals to the front of the aisle, or entry to the church.

Depending on a few logistical and timing factors, these can often be transported to the reception for your entry table, guestbook table or bar!

Make these showstoppers! (This one below is from my own wedding!)

PEW ENDS

Pew end florals are the most common decorating at a church wedding.  These can be placed on every pew, every second pew, or just the front few. They can be lush and long or sweet and simple!
